Puppy Paws Rescue

Puppy Paws Rescue was established in 2013. After fostering and being coordinator under the mentorship of Annapolis Dog Rescue, the founder Sabine & her husband Max were encouraged to create their own 501c3 with the purpose to rescue dogs. Many ties to shelters and rescues were already established and the newly founded “Puppy Paws Rescue “ jumped righ in. A corporation was established, a facebook page was built, a website designed, 501c3 paperwork approved and foster homes were recruited. Some of the initial foster families are still with the rescue and provide support in many ways. Some create websites and databases, others update petfinder and facebook postings, many foster, some train , applications are processed, interviews and home visits conducted, transports arranged and driven, events and meet and greets organized, and so much more.

The organisation has grown over the years and has become a “familiy” of like-minded people. We do not all agree on politics, taste and how we do things.. but we all have one thing we all pursue.. Helping those that cannot help themselves. Supporting our community when they need to rehome dogs that they can no longer take care off, assist our local shelters but also those in other states where an overabundance of dogs lead to full shelters and high euthanasia rates.

Puppy Paws has partnered with animal transport organizations to move dogs from areas where there is a high concentration of dogs in need to areas where there is a demand for family friends. The transports occur on the highway and by plane. Many of our transports are done by the volunteer organisations “Dream Runner Express” by ground and via air through “Pilots and Paws”.

The rescue makes sure that the dogs are returned to health – dewormed, treated for heart worms, proper nourishment, surgery for crippling injuries and most importantly provided love in warm welcoming foster families and eventually proper forever homes. Everyone is a volunteer. No one is paid. All resources go to the aid of the dogs that are saved. Since inception, our rescue has found homes for 1776 dogs..and counting. Not always an easy task, lots of work and tears and funds involved..but always with the hope to unite a deserving dog with a loving family for lifetime.
