More than 6,000 Votes Cast for Animals from Eights Sanctuaries
Monday, November 20, 2017, Washington, D.C. Best in Shelter (www.bestinshelter.org, a nonprofit organization aimed at raising the public’s awareness of animal shelters and sanctuaries, is pleased to announce the winners in its 2017 Competition.
Gwennie from City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties won first prize, earning $30,000 for the organization.
Ralph from Muttville Senior Dog Rescue won second place and a $20,000 prize.
Liberty from Puget Sound Goat Rescue won third place and a $10,000 prize.
Sanctuaries who did not win, were given a $1,000 grant for participating, awarded to Animal Welfare League of Arlington, Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, Rooster Sanctuary at Danzig’s Roost, Second Chance Wildlife Center and The Cow Sanctuary.
Best in Shelter founder and President Martha Grimes said “Congratulations to all the sanctuaries who participated in the show. Sanctuaries and the people who run them are to me the unsung heroes of the animal world.”
